Peoria's Main Library is clean, modern, spacious and So Kid Friendly! If you have never gone, work it into your plans because it's a really nice place for families.

Of course, on a busy day you can just go in and grab your items, but the facility is designed to be a place where families can linger and enjoy time together. When the weather is mild, there's a whole area outside of the library that is fun to explore. The exterior is well landscaped and has covered benches and tables perfect for snack time. There's a refreshing water feature and a rainbow light making art sculpture that will grab the kid's attention. Beyond that, there's a grassy area to play in if the kids need to burn off some energy before or after the quieter time spent inside the library.
The Kids section of the library is inside and to the right. Their space is all their own so you don't need to worry about "grownups" wanting absolute calm and quiet at the library. There are 2 activity areas in addition to all the books and a little cushioned seating amphitheater. One activity area is indoors and the other, outdoors. Again, while the sun's playing "nice", the outside is a great spot to explore. It has a chalkboard for drawing, tables and chairs for reading, an activity wall, and sail shades to keep you comfortable.
Back indoors, there is a wonderful range of books for your children to choose from. Additionally, there are multiple storytimes the librarians offer each week for all different ages, a wide range of Special Events that are offered, and the library is a Certified Autism Center™. Pick up a copy of their calendar while you are there to see all that they have to offer your kids. While you look over the calendar, the kids can play in the indoor activity area which has puzzles, toys, and places to read.

There's a lot going for this library. Spend some time there enjoying the spaces, the books and the library's programs! Link to Peoria's Main Library
