With Armed Forces Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day and Independence Day all occurring in quick succession, this is a great time of year to think of and thank those who have and are serving our country.
Founded in 2004, Packages from Home is based out of Glendale and they deliver packages to America’s military both active duty and retired. Their vision is to show our military members and veterans that we acknowledge and appreciate their many sacrifices in service of our freedoms as Americans. The care packages and the supplies provided are a token of love and gratitude felt for these heroes. For families with children, there are some meaningful ways to support this vision and help teach our children about service and patriotism.

Packages from Home can deliver letters that your family has written. Writing a letter is a meaningful way for Americans to show support for all who serve. It only takes a few minutes of your day but will bring lasting joy to the recipients. Packages from Home sends thousands of handwritten letters of appreciation, love and support to those on active duty and to veterans.
A second option is to help decorate the boxes that the care packages are delivered in. Packages from Home specifies exactly what box to get from the USPS and then your family has the creative fun of decorating the exteriors of these boxes. Rather than a plain package arriving, even the box itself becomes part of the gift because it is special, unique and decorated by someone who cares about them.

Once you have completed your letters and/or boxes, you simply make an appointment to drop them off at their warehouse that is right off the 60 in Glendale.
This is a community service project that even the younger children in your family can learn from and enjoy. (There are other ways to support Packages from Home too which you can see by exploring their website but these are the most kid friendly ones!)
