We are never too far from our ice cold drinks during the summer. Here are a few ideas to help keep your summer sips refreshing and interesting. Try a new approach with the ever popular lemonade: make it only using ½ as much water as you are supposed to. By doing this, you can easily customize your lemonade to suit the exact tastes of your family members or house guests.
When you are ready for a drink you can mix your lemonade concentrate with an equal amount of
- Sparking water
- Tonic water
- Seltzer water
- Drinking water
- Any of the above waters plus some frozen berries you have defrosted, smashed and put through a strainer to take out the largest chunks
- Mint water (see "How To" below)
- Iced tea for an Arnold Palmer
- Make it like Hot Dog on a Stick’s lemonade by slicing some lemon, giving the slices a good smushing to release the oils and juices, and then add that to the pitcher or glass along with the additional water
- Or any other ideas you have!
The combo of lemonade concentrate with the additional waters creates lemonade perfection that now has the correct amount of “water” added. And everyone can have their own favorite style of lemonade without too much trouble on your part. The last step is to kick back, take a sip, and enjoy your summer day!

Mint Water
Wash a handful of fresh mint or use about a tablespoon of dried mint. Put into a large jar with water at night and the next day you will have some quite refreshing water to enjoy. Be sure to strain the mint out of the water and then you can adjust the strength by adding more plain water to your water bottle or glass. Don’t make a huge batch that you won’t finish within the next day. (For the jar, think mason jar or empty large pickle/pasta sauce jar.)
