Old town Glendale’s Christmas in July is a wonderful distraction from the tedious Phoenix heat. Hope you can make it out to this community event on Saturday, 7/12! It’s a great neighborhood to explore and all the shops and restaurants there are one of a kind, small and locally owned.
Start your visit at the gift shop Memory Lane Trinkets & Treasures at 5836 W. Palmaire Ave. which also serves as the Visitor’s Center. There you can pick up the activity list and walking map for the Christmas in July event. Before you head out though, be sure to stroll through the shop which is filled with cute, amazing, and interesting things, many hand made locally.
Once you are back out on the sidewalk with your map, visit the wide range of shops, businesses and restaurants including gift shops, tea houses, flower shops, antique stores and even the ice cream shop that was mentioned in last week’s newsletter article! There will be a Recipe Trail in addition to the Charm Trail they always offer. Feel great about supporting these Mom & Pop businesses. Plus, it’s just plain pretty there. Cute little cottages, huge green trees, so pleasant to walk around.
An important part of the Annual Christmas in July event is the Back to School Supply Drive to benefit the Glendale Elementary School District. Look over the list below and bring something to give - We are celebrating Christmas (in July) after all!
https://visitdowntownglendale.com/ has all the details. This is all happening right off the 60 in Glendale, an easy drive from most West Valley neighborhoods.
And while we are on the subject of Christmas….there are 2 other events to be aware of! Ballet and Nutcracker lovers will be excited to take advantage of the discounted ticket promotion Ballet Arizona is running all July. A little closer to home, Surprise Angels is holding a Christmas in July Kids Night Out event on 7/26.
