Delicious ice cream options abound as we keep featuring ice cream shops during Week 3 of National Ice Cream Month. If you find yourself at Park West Shopping and Dining (101 and Northern) you are in luck. They have 2 great ice cream options plus a deal and celebration to be had. Read on, decide which promotion is best for you, and then head over!
SICILIAN BAKER
Having gelato is a fun change of pace in the world of ice cream, not to mention a chance to imagine yourself somewhere amazing in Italy. That’s what they serve (along with other treats like cookies, tiramisu and cannolis) at this desert shop connected to the Sicilian Butcher restaurant.

If you go in the afternoons on M-Th, you can take advantage of their “Happy Hour” promotions where small cannolis are only a dollar and a good sized scoop of gelato only $2! It’s a GREAT deal, especially the ice cream since, from what I’ve been seeing around town visiting so many shops, scoops that size usually run twice that cost or more. If you opt for the cannoli to go, you’ll get it to go in a very glamorous golden take out box that's kind of fun to carry around. https://thesicilianbaker.com/

HANDEL’S HOMEMADE ICE CREAM
Creamy, delicious, and not made in a huge factory! That’s what makes this ice cream so tasty. A great family outing because it just happens to be right next to the Park West Splash Pad and children’s play area. If those facts were not enough reasons to visit, this month here’s one more: Handel’s is turning 80 this year and to celebrate, on July 20th, they will give a free small scoop of ice cream to anyone over 80. If you are lucky enough to have an 80+ year old family member or friend that lives in the area, take them with you!
Handel’s also has a location in Surprise by Reems and Cotton, if that’s closer and more convenient. As you can tell from the photo, we actually opted to get milkshakes, instead of ice cream and they did not disappoint! They even came with an extra wide straw instead of regular soda sized ones - a sure sign of a thick and rich milkshake. If you want to stick with the ice cream, they have 48 flavors. Some of those include dairy free, vegan, and other specialized options so the whole family will be able to find something cool and sweet. https://handelsicecream.com/
